Each piece is shaped by hand from natural clay, with precision and care, and no two are quite the same. My work is rooted in a calm, earthy aesthetic. Bowls, cups and plates meant to be used, held and become part of your everyday life.
Mysterie keramikk
Eit objekt i ein bestemt farge. Eit anna i ei heilt anna form.
Behind the clay
Mats Mæland is the ceramic artist behind ujamn and mats.ceramics. Although he has only been working with ceramics for a few years, he has already supplied handcrafted pieces to some of Norway’s most acclaimed fine dining restaurants. With his distinctive aesthetic, he creates ceramics that complement and elevate the dining experience while keeping the focus on the food.
His work is also available at Format Gallery in Oslo.
Working primarily on the potter’s wheel, Mats places the tactile qualities of clay at the heart of his practice. In an increasingly digital world, he is passionate about highlighting the value of craftsmanship and the connection between maker, material, and object.
